A Beautiful Childhood...I think I was spoiled with the childhood I had. My parents raised me, along with my brother and sister, in scenic South Africa - home of mountains, oceans, deserts, gorges and last but not least, a stunning array of wildlife. My family traveled around the country before we immigrated to Canada. When I visited my homeland again at age 12, I climbed Table Mountain and loved every minute. During that hike, I remember wondering if you could ever climb above the clouds. I often wonder if being born in such a beautiful country had some part to play in my desire to wander off into the world.

I never planned on getting married so early, but luckily he agreed to my terms of marriage: travel with me, and keep the heat on during those cold, frozen Canadian winters.

I countered with an off-road trip to Kenya/Tanzania. After a month of climbing Kilimanjaro, visiting our sponsor child, going on safari, and then relaxing on Zanzibar, we started our family and now have two precious boys. Our trips are now more local in nature, mainly to the Adirondack Mountains in New York, but still contain the odd adventure or two...
